More than 150 years ago, an American entrepreneur named George Tennant started a small-scale woodworking business. Over the years Tennant expanded, concentrating on manufacturing wood flooring and wood products. In 1932 the company changed course significantly, leaving wood production behind to become a manufacturer of floor cleaning equipment.

Throughout its history, Tennant has held fast to the need to explore and pursue new products and technologies, building a culture built around innovation.
