Success story: Frederick Health Hospital, Maryland
Welcome to autonomous machines.
The communities of Frederick County, Maryland, have grown steadily over the past 25 years. As the region's leading healthcare provider, Frederick Health set out to expand to meet the needs of this constantly developing area, and recently completed major strategic renovations. The goal is to deliver on its mission of providing an outstanding healthcare experience and contributing positively to the wellbeing of the communities it serves.

Challenge
Don Moody, Director of Environmental Services (EHS) at Frederick Health Hospital, identified problems with the hospital's cleaning equipment, which relied on aging manual floor scrubbers. Those older machines could not cope properly with obstacles inside the hospital, left standing water behind, created slip-and-fall risks and required costly maintenance and repairs. Moody saw the hospital renovations as the perfect opportunity to improve the floor-care programme.

Solution
Moody, known for his willingness to adopt innovative technology, was interested in robotic floor scrubbers.
After researching the market and waiting for the right moment, the company chose the Tennant T7AMR autonomous scrubber. The decision was based on its confidence in Tennant technology and its ability to clean efficiently, along with the versatility of running either autonomously or manually.

Results
The T7AMR met and exceeded expectations from the start. It stood out for excellent water pickup and quiet operation, making it ideal for healthcare environments. The team now cleans 2,000 square metres of space every day, mostly in autonomous mode. That frees staff to focus on other tasks and reallocate work effectively. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the robotic scrubber also reduced exposure risk by minimising manual operation and delivering more consistent cleaning.
Introducing this innovative technology also created a sense of pride among hospital staff, who see the robotic scrubber as a valuable asset that improves cleaning performance and strengthens the relationship with patients and colleagues.
The investment in the Tennant T7AMR robotic scrubber proved highly beneficial, not only in cleaning and efficiency but also in protecting the health and safety of staff and patients, making a solid contribution to Frederick Health Hospital and its community.
